Early Childhood
Christopher McCarthy, born on Oct 10, 1998, in River Gee County, Wlehboken District, is the son of Ojuku McCarthy Kaye and Dorris P. Choloplay. He has two brothers and two sisters. After a few years, his parents relocated to Zwedru, Grand Gedeh County, in pursuit of advanced education for the family. They started a business that supported the family throughout Christopher’s childhood in Grand Gedeh County.
Educational Background
Christopher began his education at Zwedru Kindergarten and later attended Rev. Richardson Baptist High School in Grand Gedeh County. In 2011, he moved to Monrovia under the care of his aunt and continued his studies at Mount Carmel Institute, completing his elementary, junior, and senior high school education on G.S.A Road. He graduated from junior high school with high honors and entered his senior year. In 2017, he relocated to Bong County to assist his aunt with a project, where he completed his senior year at William V. S. Tubman Gray High School United Methodist in Gbarnga City.
Among the hundreds of students who took the WASSEC, Christopher was one of the people that successfully passed, qualifying him for high school graduation. However, due to financial difficulties, he was unable to participate in the graduation ceremony. Subsequently, he returned to Monrovia.
In 2021, Christopher enrolled at the Peter Qua Qua School of Journalism in Congo Town, Opposite the PLP Headquarters, Liberia. There, he obtained an Advanced Diploma in Journalism.
During his time at Mount Carmel Institute, Christopher served as Vice President and later became President. He also captained the Mount Carmel Institute Quizzing Team in the Samuel B. Jacob Quizzing Tournament, competing under the theme “Who Own District #6.”
Professional Experience and Awards
Currently, Christopher holds the position of Content Manager at Beatwind Web Media, a widely recognized and influential media platform in Liberia. Additionally, he works as a Channel & Retail Supervisor at Transsion Holding Liberia Limited, one of the world’s leading mobile phone companies that produces brands like Tecno, Infinix, and Itel.
Christopher’s achievements include a nomination for “Best Blogger of the Year” at the Paynesville Entertainment Awards in 2020/2021, as well as a Certificate of recognition for ranking first with a 3.66 GPA for Level 3 at the Peter QuaQua School of Journalism.
Hobbies
Outside of his professional pursuits, Christopher finds pleasure in writing, reading, listening to music, browsing the internet, playing basketball, and watching soccer games.
