Monrovia, Liberia – Sunday, August 13, 2023, Liberians around the country have been crying about a fake cryptocurrency company called Smart AI tricking many Liberians. This incident left a lot of people worried, in debt, and feeling very sad.
According to reports gathered, Smart AI was an online platform that claimed based in the United States of America that enter Liberia with the sole purpose of trading the Liberian dollars for profit making.
The platform shut down yesterday after a huge claim of suspected fraud on the internet. It has been reported that the application had over 200,000 Liberians on the platform with the amount ranging from as low as 400 LD to as high as 800,000 LD.
While the perpetrators responsible for this heartbreaking con have seemingly vanished, the pain inflicted on countless lives endures. Many who had entrusted their hard-earned money now find themselves grappling with overwhelming debts, their financial stability irreparably compromised.
