As we draw closer to the general & presidential elections, there are many rigmaroles in the political space of our country. Prince Y. Johnson, one of the most influential political actors, released an extraordinary statement regarding his party’s stance on not supporting the current ruling party.
Prince Y. Johnson is the vision bearer of the Movement for Democratic Reconciliation (MDR). He last contested the presidential elections in 2017, ending the race as one of the top five candidates.
He threw his support behind George Weah in the second round of the elections because he was not among the top two candidates. Amb. Weah won the election, thereby owing him [Prince Johnson] a couple of promises.

We have gone under President Weah’s leadership for five years, and it seems the current Nimba County senator is not satisfied with the agreement. The senator accused the president of not providing top governmental positions to his people as promised in their arrangement.
Although Sen. Johnson will not be contesting the presidency because his seat will be up for grasp, he has, however, chose not to support the Pres. Weah for not fulfilling his promises.
In his declaration yesterday, he listed several complaints the government has refused to settle. The complaints range from not paying debts owed to the county [Nimba] to high managerial jobs for only his county.

“The CDC-led Government has over $7.5M for the people of Nimba, and we as County Officials over the last five years have been sincerely approaching this government with all diplomatic means to pay our Money,” the senator said.
He continued: “This Government has also refused to give top governmental positions we previously discussed and agreed to be given to our sons and daughters of Nimba, like top Ministerial Positions, Managing Directors including ambassadorial positions.”
