About a decade ago, dozens of now retired Liberian musicians strived to pave the way to reach Liberian music to where it is today. Unlike now that Liberian music is being played widely, musicians like Mighty Blow, Lucky Bucky, Takun J, and many others suffered to penetrate their way through the local market.
The current bash of Liberian Musicians is doing extremely well when it comes to making amazing songs and videos; signing a few endorsement deals. Although there are many things that have not been utilized, there is one musician who is silently pushing himself – JZyno.
Jonathan Lee – commonly known as JZyno – is an award-winning Ghana-based Liberian Afropop artist. JZyno, who came into the limelight when he featured Teddyride on a popular song called “Kpan Kpan Me,” has been doing things differently than his fellow artists. He currently owns the mostly played Liberian songs on Audiomack with over 975,000 streams.
Here are four things that JZyno is doing that will pay off for him soon.
Promotion
The first thing the Ghana-based Liberian star is doing differently compared to most Liberian artists is promotion. JZyno has embarked on a media tour in three different countries – Nigeria, Ghana, and Liberia.
In November 2021, the Afropop artist was interviewed on more than five big radio and television stations in Nigeria. Media networks like Hip TV, Sound City, Lagos Jump, and Star Fm were among the stations he visited. The award-winning artist also toured several stations in Ghana, and it was on a Ghanaian radio station he premiered his hit song – Fall Down Inside.
At the time of this writing, JZyno has already visited many radio and television programs in his home country – Liberia. The media promotion is just one aspect of Jonathan’s hard effort. Apart from his media tour, the artist is also making good use of his social media accounts.
JZyno barely goes a day without posting links to some of his songs on social media. JZyno has gone to the extent of putting his flyer on a billboard in Ghana. This work is so rare among our musicians. As we all know, media cost too much money, but it is of no concern for the musician because he knows what exactly he stands to benefit from it.
JZyno Ability to Connect with his fans and Bloggers
It is no doubt that every top Liberian musician has massive followers in the Liberian community on social media – even though this number is far less than their counterparts from other countries.
JZyno is one of the few top artists, if not the only one, who knows how to link up with fans and bloggers. He is very responsive to comments that require his reply. The Afropop crooner has a video compilation from various fans dancing to his music on his personal YouTube channel.
Once you tag him a video or post that requires him to share, he will do just that. He has an excellent relationship with almost all the top bloggers in the country. His ability to dash his fans with scratch cards occasionally is something amazing 😉.
From this strategy, JZyno is winning the heart of Liberian every blessed day.
Active Social Media Presence
If you are a musician in this era and are not making adequate use of social media, then you are probably up to something else. The “Rula Empire” boss has an active account on all the major social media platforms.
With his current trend, he is heading for the path of being one musician who will benefit hugely from his YouTube and other royalty channels. While others still depend on the traditional way to make money, JZyno is using every digital medium to explore his music to the world.
JZyno is a Humble Artist
Everyone who knows JZyno will attest to the fact that he is humble. JZyno has never allowed famed to make him belittle anyone. While he is making a significant strive to push his game, he is always wishing the same for everyone.
In his latest song tagged Ami, JZyno featured Revolution, one of Liberia’s best trapco rappers. Even though Revolution is not currently making music, he is focusing on his education, Rula Empire’s boss still saw the need to bring the trapco rapper into the spotlight.
He has no beef with any artist. In fact, he has worked with most of the top artists in the country. If these things are not humility, then we don’t know how to classify them.
Conclusion
Even though there are many efforts that still need to be applied, the Afropop crooner is slightly edging his colleagues with his current moves. With the above-mentioned points, JZyno is gradually paving his way to stardom.
