Representative George said he wants the Liberian leader to give him the inspector general of police position for six months or a year so that he can silence all critics of the CDC-led government.
The Montserrado County District #7 lawmakers noticed that there is a need for some people to disappear so that development can take place in Liberia.
He said: “President Weah, you know me, and you know what I can do. For you, maybe you want a noble peace prize, but I don’t need that. Make me police inspector general for just six months or a year so that some of those people can disappear in this country.”
The CDC lawmakers further called on President Weah to ban student politics at the University of Liberia, adding, “Mr. President, there is a problem with these students of the campus-based Students Unification Party (SUP). They cannot dictate to us how to run a university. If SUP wants to be a political party, put an end to students’ politics. So that SUP can be a full-fledged political party”
He continued, “They have been sent by the hyenas that are waiting for the young lions to die before they can eat them. We who are the ‘foot soldiers’ are here to protect you, Mr. President.”
The lawmaker has been hugely criticized by some individuals and organizations, including the Liberian Council of Churches. The council condemned the statement coming from Rep. George, terming it as reckless.
The LCC has called on Rep. Solomon to apologize for such statements noting that this can undermine the peace and stability of Liberia.
“Such statement coming from sitting lawmakers should not be accepted, noting that this can bring chaos and instill fear in citizens. The Council of Churches is at the same time calling on President Weah to distance himself from this.”
