Monrovia — Three of the four members of the former Collaborating Political Party (CPP) have issued a separate statement towards President Weah’s recent State of the Nation Address (SONA).
As part of his constitutional duties, President Weah mounts the stage to give his last annual message for his first term at the joint Chambers of the house of parliament.
Among many things, the president praised the state of the economy, his effort to fight corruption, compassionately delivering the country, and others. He also used the occasion to throw jabs at the opposition and to declare his intention to contest the upcoming elections.
Alexander B. Cummings
Responding to the president’s message, presidential aspirant Alexander Cummings has accused the CDC-led government of doing nothing to improve the living standards of Liberians.
According to him, George Weah’s regime has engaged in massive corruption over the years.

“To put it simply, after six years of Weah’s leaderless presidency, the State of our Republic is weak with no jobs, broken promises, no hope, no change, and no security. We should also add that there is too much suffering, and too much stealing going on. Things are bad, and only getting worse,” Mr. Cummings said.
Nyonblee Karnga Lawrence
Meanwhile, the opposition Liberty Party described President Weah’s statement of six million to increase the salary of some fifteen thousand civil servants as unrealistic.
The party’s Political Leader, Senator Nyonblee Karngar-Lawrence, said the pronouncement is an attempt to put the people against the legislature, as six million is insignificant to increase the salary of 15,000 civil servants.
Unity Party
For its part, Unity Party says the CDC government must own up to the massive failure and inequity in the government’s payroll harmonization scheme, which the UP said has turned the opposite.
