Liberia Immigration arrests Guinean national for attempting to acquire Biometric Voter Registration card

• A 23-year-old Guinean national, Yusufu Keita, was arrested by the Liberia Immigration Service for allegedly attempting to acquire a Biometric Voter Registration (BVR) card in Grand Gedeh County.
• The arrest was made on the Suah High School campus, where one of the registration centers is located, and Keita has lived in Liberia for only one year.
• Keita was detained by the LIS while the investigation continues, and the Biometric Voter Registration, which started on April 21, will close on May 11.

A Guinean national, Yusufu Keita, was arrested by the Liberia Immigration Service (LIS) Grand Gedeh County detachment for attempting to acquire a Biometric Voter Registration (BVR) card.

The arrest was made on April 27 at the Suah High School campus registration center. Keita has only lived in Liberia for one year. On April 28, Keita was detained by the LIS while under investigation, after being caught trying to register.

Despite claims from fellow Guineans that he had a Resident Permit, a search of his home proved this to be false. The Biometric Voter Registration in Grand Gedeh County will end on May 11.
