In a disturbing incident, a 36-year-old woman has been arrested and charged for allegedly burying her two-day-old baby alive in a shallow grave in a swamp in the Civil Compound Community of Gbarnga, Liberia.

Lorpu Kesselee, the suspect, reportedly buried the newborn because she did not want him after giving birth. The lifeless body of the baby was discovered by community members on May 6 and was later pronounced dead by medical personnel at the C.D. Dunbar Hospital.
During the police investigation, Lorpu admitted to committing the act, citing the denial of her pregnancy by her unnamed boyfriend as the reason for her actions. “I didn’t want this baby because the pregnancy was denied by my boyfriend,” Lorpu told investigated.
A forensic medical examination revealed that the baby was alive after being delivered, leading to Lorpu being charged with the crime of murder and sent for trial in the Ninth Judicial Circuit Court.
