Former Liberian hitmaker, Young Classic, has recently taken to social media to highlight five different scenarios why he advised JZyNO to hold Ghana citizenship. In a social media post, Young Classic encouraged JZyNO to be half Ghanaian and half Liberian.

Classic gave the advice because he believed that being only a Liberian has never helped any Liberian artist. Although his advice was vehemently rejected by JZyNo, Young Classic has provided six different instances of why he gave JZyNo the advice.

Drawing upon historical examples, Young Classic shared incidents where Liberian artists faced hurdles in Ghana. He mentioned the case of FAYA from Mentor, stating, “We all saw what happened there. He was cheated and not helped by many big heads from the industry in Ghana, despite having a golden voice.” Young Classic also referenced the G Girl’s win in a singing competition, pointing out that the promises of support from Ghanaians turned out to be a scam, as they prioritized their own female artists at the time.

Continuing his narrative, Young Classic mentioned other artists such as Prince, Screw Face, and Scientific, who encountered challenges after expressing their Liberian identity or exploring different musical styles. He emphasized, “We lived out there; we know how those people play and how they operate.” He further noted that artists like Scientific faced a shift in attention when they started incorporating local Liberian elements into their music.

With JZyNo’s recent refusal of advice regarding Ghanaian citizenship, Young Classic urged his fellow artists to support and protect one another. He stated, “No man will allow you in his house and let you take over his house.” He also emphasized the need for strategic thinking, stating, “Let’s be smart here and use them [Ghanaians] also, because the song is gone, but what’s next is what we should be ready for.”

Young Classic’s post serves as a call to action for the Liberian music community. He encouraged his followers to stand together, acknowledge the challenges faced by Liberian artists in Ghana, and strive for unity and support. He concluded by asserting, “Liberia wins.”
