Berenice Mulubah, a famous Liberian Blogger based in the United States of America, has taken to Facebook to call out MC Caro for preaching a message she’s not living by.
It can be recalled that MC Caro took to Twitter to remind Liberian Musicians about the loss of cultural identity and authenticity. Her post was meant to encourage upcoming musicians to stick to their heritage and make authentic music. Read the full post here: “We Are Slowly Losing Our Identity,” MC Caro Reminds Fellow Musicians.
Caro’s post spread through various Liberian blogs for her message recognizing the unique culture of Liberian music. While others lavish praises on the rapper, one prominent person took a stance against her message – Berenice Mulubah.
Berenice, CEO of CLiberiaClearly, has been a long-standing advocate for the unique identity of Liberian music. Berenice, on many days, has received bad words from fans because of her passion to boldly tell Liberian musicians to sing in koloqua.
The CLiberiaClearly CEO replied to Caro that it’s good to preach the same message as hers, but it’s equally worth noting that she [MC Caro] has not lived up to her message.
“So, MC CARO, you nah start preaching my message that I have been preaching for years? It’s now that she knows that Liberians will lose their identity if they keep singing with a foreign accent,” Ms. Mulubah wrote.
She continued: “Well, two voices are more powerful than one. The only problem is, you can’t rap like an American rapper from the hood, using the B, N and F words, and turn around and tell other artists not to sound like Nigerians or Ghanaians.”
Berenice also went on to tell MC Caro, “You have to do what you preach. You guys will see the sense in the things I say, but act like you have an attitude toward me, just because you are afraid that you will lose fans who are reading my posts without comprehension and putting a negative spin on them.”
The CEO’s response serves as a sharp rebuke, reminding Caro that she should not only advocate the message but also embody it herself.
