The Sapa Influencer, Daniel Regha, has declared one of the most prestigious awards in the world worthless. His statement comes after social media has been abuzz with Nigerian artists losing every category they were nominated in the just-ended Grammy Awards.

Mr. Regha, who is known as a celebrity tormentor, has gotten a lot of people on his side for the first time after openly calling out the Recording Academy for partiality.

Daniel says South African singer Tyla’s song, which won the Best African Music Performance category, is terrible and for it to win the Grammy ahead of Burna Boy and Davido is proof of the award being worthless.

Daniel Regha tweet

“Grammy award is practically worthless, the organization l¤st their credibility years back. Tyla’s terrib!e song (Water) being recognized as the “Best African Music Performance” is proof enough,” Daniel Regha said.

The Twitter influencer also noted that winning awards or topping charts doesn’t determine your status as a great artist or not. He said these awards are not given based on merit but rather on industry connection.

“Just like the Billboard Hot 100 chart, the Grammys doesn’t define the greatness of an artiste, & people don’t bag noms or win a Grammy based on merit; So Davido & Burna losing all their nominations shouldn’t be a big deal. Grammys nowadays are a g!ft,” Regha ended.
