A presidential aspirant has pledged to bring a transparent government structure to Liberia when elected as a president in the upcoming 2023 general and presidential election.

“Secret promotes corruption, therefore I will operate an open and transparent government. He further noted that his salary will be made known to the public and will be sent to the ministry of finance and be an executive for the record.” — Tiawan S. Gongloe.

The renowned Liberian lawyer disclosed that he would also introduce lifestyle audits in his government. He promised to audit his government officials after every three months.

The former Solicitor General said, “If the auditor audits me as president and I am guilty of corruption, I will resign and subject myself to the LACC because it is disgraceful and it kills because corruption kills.”

“Because I will not be involved in corruption, any member of the cabinet that will be involved in corruption will be dismissed, their property will be turned over to the country, and they will be sent to court.”, the Councilor continued.

Mr. Gongloe said he believed that if people are prosecuted for stealing, it will serve as a deterrent to others. The former president of the National Bar Association of Liberia said his intention to become president is to make people become millionaires outside of government.

He said his government would “change the scenario that government is the place to enrich yourself illegally.” Council Gongloe, at the same time, condemned the statement from district#7 representative Solomon George that he would make people disappear when appointed as police inspector general.

He termed the statement as speech of ignorant. He maintained that he’s not deterred by such assertion noting that they have heard them before. The Liberian Councilor term politician said, “the president’s action to suspend those sanctions officials is disappointing, thus the president should have dismissed them and issued a search warrant on them so their homes can be searched.”

He lashed at president Weah calling on him to improve JFK and not build hospitals, noting that hospitals are not building but equipment and the appropriate medical staff to do their job. He said the president should make JFK regain its first status in Africa because it was the best hospital in West Africa when they built it in Liberia.

Councilor Gongloe, at the same time, announced a peaceful assembly of his partisans before the American Embassy to thank them for fighting corruption in Liberia. The Council made the statement yesterday when he appeared on a local radio station in Monrovia.
