In a thrilling Africa Cup of Nations qualifier, Liberia stunned South Africa with a late equalizer to draw 2-2 at the Orlando Stadium.
The match had all the hallmarks of an intense encounter, with both sides showcasing their attacking prowess. However, it was Liberia who had the last laugh, scoring a stunning goal in added time to secure a valuable point away from home.
South Africa got a penalty in the tenth minute of the game after Liberia goalkeeper Tommy Songo fouled Tau in his own box.
Lyle Foster brilliantly converted the kick, thus giving the host the lead. In the twenty-first minute, Lyle Foster again gives the home team an added advantage with another goal.
In the entire first half, the Liberia National team performed poorly. South Africa had a couple of chances to kill the game but missed all their opportunities.
Shortly in the second half of the match, Tau gave the home team a lead through a curled free-kick into the bottom corner of the net, but the referee canceled it because it was an indirect free-kick.
The Lonestar, on the other hand, made two changes right at the start of the second half, with Mo Sangare and Allen Njie making way for Jamal and Nohan.

After a few minutes of play, Lonstar’s coach substituted Joachim and Terence for Marcus and Tonia Tisdell. These changes begin the start of massive pressure on South Africa.
A few minutes after the coach brought Tonia into the game, he scored a free-kick goal – giving Lonstar hope to keep pressing on.
While South Africa felt a little relaxed, Lonestar kept mounting pressure to ensure that they would come back to life. As God could have it, Mo Sangare, another substitute player, gives Liberia an equalizer in the ninety-oneth minute of the game.
