In a recent meeting with representatives, former Vice President Joseph Boakai’s promises have become a source of confusion and conflicting reports. Two different accounts emerged from the gathering, leaving the public puzzled about the exact nature of Boakai’s commitment.

Representative Bahway asserted, “I was there when the old man [Joseph Boakai] made it clear that he would be giving US$25,000 to each individual [representative] so that they will see reason and support their district… I have not received it yet but I’ll receive it.”

Contrastingly, Mo Al, who is the Director of Political Affairs in the Office of the President-elect, offered a different perspective, stating, “In the meeting, JNB said that the inaugural celebration would take place in all districts and that during those celebrations, he’s raising money to give US$5,000 to each district and he would like for the lawmakers from those districts to be involved with it.”

The conflicting statements raise questions about the clarity of Boakai’s promises and the intended use of the funds. With one source suggesting a whopping $25,000 per lawmaker and another mentioning a more modest $5,000 for each district, the discrepancy is yet to be clarified.

As the confusion lingers, the public awaits further updates to understand the true nature of Boakai’s commitments and whether the promised funds will materialize. The differing accounts have added an element of uncertainty to the situation, leaving observers curious about the resolution of this discrepancy and its implications for the lawmakers and their districts.
