Gbapolu County Senator-elect Amara Konneh has called on Liberians to exert more effort in practicing self-discipline and being law-abiding in order to attract more investment.
The former Finance Minister made the post via his social media handle on Sunday, January 07, 2024. Using Stanford University’s “Monument to Change as It Changes,” a dynamic grid of perpetual color shifts, as a backdrop to his story, Mr. Konneh emphasized the essence of change being inherently non-static.
“I am at Stanford University, hustling, and behind me is the famous ‘Monument to Change as It Changes.’ This tech monument is a large grid of color that, as the title suggests, is perpetually in flux. It is not static for even a second. At one moment, the whole “screen” floods with orange or blue; at another, it disintegrates into a field of competing hues. In short, change isn’t static,” Mr Konneh asserted.

He continued: “My country has embraced democratic change over violent change for 20 years now since the end of our protracted civil war.”
Reflecting on the past two decades in Liberia, marked by a transition from violent to democratic change since the conclusion of a prolonged civil war, Konneh underscored the need for a shift in focus. The emphasis now, he asserted, should be on discipline, hard work, and adherence to the rule of law to yield the dividends of the collective investment in democracy.
“My country has embraced democratic change over violent change for 20 years now since the end of our protracted civil war. We must now embrace discipline, hard work, and the rule of law to get a return on our collective investment in embracing democracy. And that return is a stable, prosperous, and inclusive country,” Mr. Konneh said.
