Monrovia – The Court verdict passed on Thursday, December 21, 2023, has found former Chief Justice Gloria Musu Scott and three other family members guilty of the crimes of Murder, Criminal Conspiracy, and raising a false alarm to Law Enforcement Officers.
The judgment came to an end after five long months of hearing. The jurors declared those involved guilty after what they called a “careful consideration of evidence.”
The court verdict reads: “We, the trial jurors in the case, after careful consideration of the evidence, hereby carefully agree that the defendants are hereby judged guilty of the crime of murder, criminal conspiracy, and raising a false alarm to law enforcement officers.”
During the late night of February 22, 2023, Cllr Scott’s niece Charloe Musu met her untimely demise in a pool of blood at her aunt’s (Gloria Musu Scott) residence.
Amid the claims and counter-claims of who the perpetrators were, the court arrested ex-Justice Scott and three other relatives in connection to the k*illing of the late Charloe.
“February 22, at about 10:00 PM, Cllr. Gloria Musu-Scott, Gertrude Newton, Alice Johnson, and Rebecca Youdeh Wisner, “with criminal intent, armed themselves with a sharp instrument believed to be a knife and pepper spray; and willfully, intentionally, purposely, and maliciously inflicted several bodily injuries on Charlotte Musu, including her chest, right hand, left thigh, and left armpit, leading to her death and thereby committing the crime of murder,” the government indictment stated.
Despite the guilty verdict, the former Chief Justice’s legal team has announced an appeal to the honorable Supreme Court on the ground that the judgment passed against their client is based on false.
As things stand currently about the sentencing period, everything remains on hold as the court awaits the appeal from Gloria Musu Scott’s legal team. Cllr Scott and her family will remain behind bars during the appeal period.
