The Liberia National Police’s Grand Bassa County Detachment, in partnership with the civil society leadership of Grand Bassa County, recently held a one-day dialogue on early warning and response to election violence ahead of the critical 2023 general and presidential elections.

The dialogue, which was held on February 7, 2023, ended with a promise from the civil society leaders to work collaboratively with the joint security to conduct community engagement aimed at ensuring that the electoral process is free of violence.

The Chairman of Grand Bassa Civil society, Mr. Barley Tobeh, expressed appreciation to the county’s police leadership for convening the meeting and pledged his institution’s support to work with the joint security to ensure a peaceful and level playing field for all participants in the upcoming elections.

Assistant Commissioner of Police, William Johnson, the County’s Commander, assured participants of the police’s impartiality and neutrality in discharging their duties and responsibilities.

The police are committed to working with all stakeholders toward promoting peace and ensuring that the electoral process is free from violence. In a separate development, the Liberia National Police Grand Bassa County Detachment received a brand new white Toyota Hilux pickup in the Port City of Buchanan on February 14, 2023.
