President Joseph Nyumah Boakai’s inaugural address came to a temporary halt as the 80-year-old leader reportedly experienced heat exhaustion during his inaugural address. The incident occurred after President Boakai had been delivering his speech for over 30 minutes.
Dressed in a traditional country cloth attire, President Boakai began showing signs of distress due to the high temperature in Monrovia, which reached 29 degrees Celsius. Visibly affected by the heat, the President was assisted to a seated position, where security officers promptly stepped in to fan him, aiming to help him cool off.

Despite the unexpected interruption, sources confirm President Boakai is in good condition. However, due to the incident, the continuation of the inauguration ceremony, a historic moment for Liberia, had to be temporarily halted.
