Nimba County Senator Prince Johnson has voiced his dissatisfaction with President Joseph Boakai’s recent cabinet appointments, highlighting the minimal representation of Nimbians in the list.

Out of the appointed ministers, only Cllr. Cooper W. Kruah secured a position as Minister of Justice, drawing criticism from Senator Johnson for what he perceives as the marginalization of Nimba County.

Speaking at Christ Chapel of Faith, Senator Johnson expressed disappointment, emphasizing that Nimba County, a stronghold of the Movement of Democratic and Reconstruction (MDR), deserves more significant representation in the Boakai administration.

He asserted that Nimbians should have been allocated five to seven ministerial positions, considering their substantial support for Boakai during the elections.

“Nimba County deserves five to seven ministerial positions in the Boakai’s administration, but it’s saddened that only one cabinet position has been awarded to us (Nimbians),” the Senator said.

Senator Johnson further accused Minister of State Sylvester Grisby of hindering the appointment of MDR party members recommended by Vice President Jeremiah Koung. He stressed the crucial role played by Nimba County in Boakai’s election victory, urging for fairer representation in the cabinet.

“You can’t discredit the role played by Nimba Nimba, we should be prioritized. We need four to five ministers. If Bomi county can get three, Bassa can get four, we need five or seven,” Sen. Johnson said

MDR, led by Senator Johnson, played a pivotal role in securing Boakai’s presidency, particularly in Nimba County, where they garnered over 70 percent of the votes. The senator’s remarks underscored the expectations of Nimba County residents for more significant inclusion in the government’s decision-making processes.
