Liberia: Speaker J. Fonati Koffa Appoints Key Committee Leaders

Cllr. Jonathan Fonati Koffa has initiated the formation of the leadership structure of the House of Representatives by appointing officials to key committees. The focus is on enhancing the effective functioning of the government and implementing crucial policies.

In the Committee on Executive, Speaker Koffa designated Rep. Emmanuel Dahn (Ind. District #7, Montserrado County) as Chairman, assisted by Rep. Samuel Enders (Ind. District 6. Montserrado County). This committee will concentrate on matters related to the executive branch and government administration.

Rep. Marvin Cole (CDC, District #3, Bong County) will chair the Rules & Order Committee, supported by Co-Chair Rep. Abu Bana Kamara (CDC, District 15, Montserrado). The committee plays a crucial role in ensuring the orderly conduct of legislative proceedings.

For the Foreign Affairs Committee, Speaker Koffa appointed Rep. Taa Z. Wongbe (Ind. District #9, Nimba County) as Chairman and Rep. Richard Nagbe Koon (UP, Dist. 11, Montserrado Co.) as Co-Chair. This committee will oversee international relations and diplomacy, contributing to Liberia’s global engagement.

Expressing confidence in the appointees, Speaker Koffa stated, “I am confident that these distinguished individuals will bring their unique skills and perspectives to their respective committees, contributing to the overall success of our legislative agenda. Together, we will work towards building a stronger and more prosperous Liberia.”

Rep. Dahn, appreciative of the trust placed in him, pledged to leverage his connections for better coordination between the Legislature and the Executive, aiming to serve the Liberian people effectively.

Meanwhile, Rep. Cole, as the new Chair of the House’s Rules & Order Administration, committed to restoring order in the House. He emphasized initiatives such as installing a proper sewer system, ensuring fairness in employment, and providing training for central administration employees. His goal is to bring dignity and honor to the National Legislature and rebrand the institution for a more efficient and disciplined working environment.
