Tragic news emerged from Ganta City, Nimba County on the evening of Friday, April 14, 2023, as 20-year-old Lucelia Gonleseh lost her life in a brutal attack. According to reports, Lucelia was allegedly stabbed multiple times by her ex-boyfriend, identified only as Jefferson, who is said to have acted out of jealousy.
The incident occurred at around 7:25 pm in the Royal Community area of Ganta City. Lucelia and her current boyfriend, Richard, were returning home from buying meat pepper soup to enjoy with their rice when Jefferson suddenly appeared and attacked her. Richard tried to intervene but was unable to stop Jefferson, who proceeded to stab Lucelia multiple times in the chest and neck before fleeing the scene.
Despite being rushed to E&J Medical Center, Lucelia was pronounced dead on arrival by the doctors. The incident has left the community in shock and grief, with neighbors and loved ones mourning the loss of a young life.

According to anonymous sources, the attack was fueled by Jefferson’s jealousy over Lucelia’s new relationship with Richard. The victim’s mother, Mamie Saye, confirmed that her daughter and Jefferson had been in a relationship in the past, but had since separated and moved on with their lives. Sadly, their past seems to have caught up with them in the most tragic of ways.
In the aftermath of the attack, Jefferson was apprehended by the police and transferred to Sanniqullie to avoid any potential mob violence from outraged members of the community. He is currently in police custody and awaiting the results of the preliminary investigation.
The loss of a young life is always a tragedy, and the community of Ganta City is still reeling from the shock of Lucelia’s untimely passing. Our thoughts go out to her family and loved ones during this difficult time.
