Shan Liviax, a “Liberian International DJ,” was a topic of discussion over the weekend about a post made about the Liberian Entertainment Industry.
In her post, she asserted that she does not play Liberian music because the music is of low quality for her audience. “Ok let’s make this simple I can’t play Liberia music because most of my show is world-class and many people don’t know Liberia music here,” she wrote.
She continued, “Let’s be honest our music is still down we need more focus on the industry.”
A week after she composed the post, Liberia’s best female rapper took a serious exception to her statement. MC Caro, who is expected to start her musical tour in Australia, told the DJ that Liberia music would not ascend to the top if Liberians themselves do not push it there.
She began by saying: “The work of a dj is to break a record. The UK you are playing in today , it was some Nigerians and Ghanaians dJs and OAP who give birth to Afrobeat out here.”
King Caro went a bit harder when said alluded that a vast majority of the self-proclaimed DJs do not know their function. “When I say most of our people who claim to be dj don’t even know their work they say I’m being disrespectful look at this now,” said MC Caro.
Caro attributed Shan’s post as one of the many reasons most Liberian musicians are faking their tones. “It’s because of statements like this you have a lot of Liberian artists loosing authenticity sounding like Nigerian and Ghanaian all over the place.” — King Caro.

She ended, “Your DJing might even be the reason we might have a global Liberian record someday you never know. There is nothing like an international crowd You are the dj and u are the controller of ur crowd There is no boundary for good music.”
An hour later, after the rapper posted on Facebook, Shan took her personal profile to apologize for her previous message. Here is what she wrote:
“Hey fam, I’m very sorry for my previous post!! You don’t really understand the [situation] out here! I know it pains when you actually work and people didn’t appreciate [it]. MC Caro — you [are] actually trying your best when it comes to Liberia music But the fact is that the music industry in Liberia is not worldwide, I mean as compared to Nigeria & Ghana Sometimes if you [are] playing and switch to Liberia music people Start to criticize!!
I know some of you [might] not understand. We try by all means but still it [is] always the same! So let’s put stop to all that Hate comments & insulting That won’t help I know Liberians We are all one love.”
As it stands, there is smooth communication going on between the two entertainers. There are plans to work things out for the overall good of Liberian music. Do you have something to say, Leave a comment below let’s hear.
