MC Caro’s Claim of 15 Million Streams Is a Bold-Faced Lie – Here’s Why

MC Caro

On April 02, 2023, the internet was abuzz with MC Caro’s claim that her song “Baby” had amassed a staggering 15 million streams on all international platforms, excluding Audiomack. But let’s be real here, folks. This is nothing but a big vlah!

First off, let’s take a closer look at where these alleged streams are coming from. MC Caro’s highest-ever streams have come from Audiomack, which only amounts to a measly 1.82 million total streams on all of her songs combined. So where is she getting the other 13 million streams from?

If we examine her presence on some of the biggest streaming platforms out there, the numbers just don’t add up. “Baby” has less than 25K total streams on Spotify, one of the world’s biggest streaming platforms. Her total plays on Boomplay for “Baby” are less than 314K. So again, where is MC Caro getting her 15 million from?

It’s not just the numbers that don’t add up, but also the comparison to other hardworking musicians in Liberia. Kpanto, for example, just celebrated 1 million total streams on Apple Music, while JZyNo, another popular musician in Liberia, has less than 5 million total plays. So why is MC Caro claiming to have 15 million streams when others are struggling to reach even a fraction of that number?

Let’s face it, folks. This is just another example of someone trying to boost their own ego and reputation by spouting off fake numbers on the internet. We need to stop blindly congratulating anything we see online and start questioning the legitimacy of these claims. So, 15 million streams for MC Caro? My foot!

In another news

In related news, The Liberian artist recently claimed that she would have only earned $450 from these streams.

Let’s break down the numbers. If MC Caro’s streams were indeed fake, she wouldn’t have earned anything from them, because fake streams do not generate revenue. But assuming that the streams were real, her earnings would have been much higher than the paltry $450 she claims to have made.

Firstly, the amount an artist earns per stream varies depending on the platform and the country. For example, on Spotify, an artist can earn anywhere between $0.002 to $0.004 per stream, while on Apple Music, the range is between $0.006 and $0.008 per stream. In some countries, the rates can be even higher.

Now, let’s do some math. If we assume that MC Caro earned $0.003 per stream, which is on the lower end of the spectrum, then her total earnings from 15 million streams would be $45,000. This is a far cry from the $450 she claims to have made.

It’s worth noting that streaming royalties are split between the artist, the record label, and the distributor. The exact breakdown of these splits can vary, but in general, the artist receives the lion’s share of the revenue. So, if MC Caro’s streams were legitimate, she would have earned a significant amount of money from them.

You should try not making up things next time you need a story. Cause your math ain’t mathing in real life. We need better proof.
