A popular social media blog – Shine Liberia – yesterday announced that Liberians are expected to see the 1,000 banknotes soon on the Liberian market. Although Shine Liberia is an unofficial source of government agencies, Liberians took to the comment section to vent their disenchantment.
More than a hundred commenters expressed descending opinions over the blog post. Some people had problems with the logo on the back of the money, claiming that it represents an evil culture.
Other people straightly accused the government of printing monies during a critical time in the country – the election period. They insinuated that if the government brings cash at this time, they will use it for campaign purposes.

When new notes of our money are released, we don’t see them after a few months; we only see ministers of various Ministries building new houses and buying new cars…They are doing everything possible just to win elections, but not doing everything possible to feed every poor home in Liberia.
