Monrovia – As the date for official campaign activities gradually comes to an end, the pulling of a bigger crowd continues to stir debate across the landscape of Liberia.
Sunday, September 17, 2023, supporters of the Unity Party face the elements of the heavy downpour of rain to appear massively in their numbers to pledge their support for Amb. Boakai.
Early Sunday morning, it began doubtful as to whether the Unity Party’s partizans would have pulled out the same crowd as their counterpart, the Coalition for Democratic Change.
Fast forward going to the afternoon hours, the nation’s capital began bursting with Unity Party members coming from all walks of life. Their overwhelming turnout sent a new message that the upcoming elections would not be a walk in the park for the incumbent president – George M. Weah.
The Unity Party had 27 leaders whom they referred to as carvans. They were responsible for bringing their supporter to the rally. For instance, the Vice Presidential candidate, Jeremiah Koung brought his group from the Police Academy while the tough-talking lawmaker, Yekeh Kolubah brought his members from Old Road, District #10.
As the Unity Party gathered yesterday, the debate has now changed to “who pull out the highest crowd?” The Nation is less than 25 days to its elections, and Liberians are hoping for a more peaceful democratic process.
