Monrovia — Days after pulling a massive crowd in Margibi County on his return to the country, US-indicted criminal – Nathaniel Mcgill – received mammoth support in Bong County.
Nathaniel Mcgill, over the weekend, was in Bong to honor an ‘invitation’ from citizens for paying students’ tuition while serving as Minister of State for Presidential Affairs.
The former minister launched a one million Liberian Dollars scholarship scheme in Bong County to help alleviate the tuition burden on parents. A few months after launching this scheme, Mcgill was again in the county telling citizens that even if they were stealing money, the citizens should be happy that they were using it here [Liberia].

His statement became a point of contention as many people saw it as disingenuous to the country. On August 15, 2022, the United States of America sanctioned Mcgill; and two other government officials for public corruption and misapplication of public funds.
Fast forward to his criminal indictment, Nathaniel Mcgill resigned his position and declared his intention to contest in the senatorial elections in Margibi County. He has since made himself a force to reckon with in the county.
During the weekend, the senatorial aspirant paraded the streets of Kakata (the capital city of Margibi), meeting with citizens of the county. He was then heavily greeted by thousands of people in Bong County, where they hosted the thanksgiving program.
What has baffled many people is how people are collaborating with Nat when the American government has indicted him for stealing from the very people he wants to represent.
Even though Liberians have a history of supporting people publicly, not electing them, Let’s see how this will go.
